Missing
the Connection
How will I forgive you
For showing me the universe in your heart,
Then closing that door before
I could rush in and drown there?
All of this leads me to slough off
Nearly all of the rest of the world.
It's people unworthy playmates,
Mostly deeply asleep
Or hopelessly unprepared.
Or having little previous experience
In the backdrop of amazement
Which is visceral to your nature.
And in which I recognized a kindred.
Of course, as usual, I am right.
And wrong.
Even though it is
The ultimately possible in all of us,
Only sometimes can some people see
Each other at all for even a moment.
And standing side by side
To see the world through each other's eyes,
And close the gap of duality
If not forever, for a moment.
These must be some kind of
Essential requirements,
As big as breathing
To keep us alive each night.
Thank you for the breathing,
But now I lie here gasping.
